Wendy, Adina & Jasper
February 18 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Get ready to sit down and feel slightly uncomfortable. As that is what all art does. With two primary Spoken Word Artists Jasper Hardin and Adina K Burke, author most noted for her book Wheelchairs, Whips, and Bondage Tape, the only Bondage that she wants her people freed from is the Bondage of Oppression. Wendy is a woman who plays guitar so beautifully when she sings in Hebrew, which you may or may not understand, you’ll just tap along to the melody and fit right in without any worries. Seriously, don’t worry. Rabbis occasionally mess up chords and must queue the audience when to sit and when to stand. You’ll be fine. Jasper has self-published a book titled “If I Could Be a Galaxy”, and seeing as we are trying to survive the Trump Administration, while white feminism doesn’t acknowledge its history of anti-Semitism, nor does the wash of Jews of Color get addressed, who, by the way, are and always have been here, so no wonder they want to be a Galaxy, we’d be so much closer to the moon or the black hole that may or may not exist, just so we can launch ourselves into a place without Anti-Semitism. We are not alike, but we are family, and we are here. That within itself is act of rebellion. The Nazis may still be here, but we’re dead set on winning. Our existence is proof that Nazi ideals have lost. We have won, and we’re prepared to win again.
